Abstract :

Intelligent power system control is becoming a preferred strategy for active and reactive power control. This paper seeks to develop a two part robust fuzzy controller with Linear Matrix Inequality (LMI) constraint on power system frequency model for achieving global stability. The fuzzy model of the system was first determined, two part robust fuzzy controller with LMI constraint was then developed and simulated. Results of the controller actions under varying damping constant and synchronizing power coefficient were obtained. The results when compared with the one obtained under the same conditions with a fixed gain optimal PID controlled response show a superior performance in terms of stability and robustness.
