Abstract :
This research work was conducted on a sandy soil along Agaie – Etsugaie road, and the experiment conducted at the National Cereal Research Institute Baddegi, Niger State, Nigeria to study the effects of different tillage methods (zero tillage, disc ploughing, ridging, and harrowing) on some selected soil physical properties such as soil moisture content, soil bulk density, and soil porosity at depths of 0 – 10 cm, 10 – 20 cm, and 20 – 30 cm. The results obtained were compared with those of ASAE Standards. The results show that soil moisture content (9.08 %, 4.20 %, and 5.73 %), soil bulk density (1.31 g/cm3, 1.32 g/cm3 and 1.35 g/cm3) and soil porosity (47.78 %, 47.2 5%, and 46.84 %) for the three tillage methods (zero tillage, disc plouging, and ridging) are significantly different while soil moisture content of 2.61 % for harrowing compared with two tillage methods (soil bulk density of 0.02 g/cm3 and porosity of 0.53 %) are not significantly different at 5 % level of significance.
