Abstract :

Operating power stations with the highest possible availability has become very significant in recent years. Reliability and economic analysis of energy not produced due to forced, and plan outages have a decisive influence in tins respect. This paper presents the reliability assessment of Egbin thermal power station over a period of ten years (1993 to 2003 excluding 1994), with special attention paid to the energy loss in both forced and planned outages and the consequent economic implications. Computed values of MTTF, h4T131,, availability factor are used to analyze and assess the reliability of the station over the stipulated period. Frequency control methods are recommended in order to minimize the menace of the system faith that accounts for the largest percentage of faults of the Station.
