Abstract :

This study aims at reducing environmental pollutants and it centers on the development of a plastic crushing machine. The machine uses waste plastic materials as raw material, which is classified as a solid waste. The machine was designed to crush damaged plastics to produce 48.94Kg of plastic chips per hour. The machine has an overall dimension of 1345mm x 460mm x 1150mm. It was built to be operator and maintenance friendly. The maintenance can easily be carried out by opening the hopper to clear any clogged material at the upper part of the machine, and the screen to clear the clogged material at the lower part of the machine. The machine was fabricated using locally available materials and within the technical capability of our local artisans. The test results show that an average size of 3.7mm x 4mm chip could be produced.
