Abstract :

The main objectives are achievement of loss minimisation and improve voltage regulation through appropriate selection and location of FACTS controllers using genetic algorithms principle. The different types of FACTS devices and their different locations have different effects towards realisation of the objective function. The qualitative and quantitative treatment of FACTS devices and their siting are determined simultaneously. This combinatorial analysis problem is solved using genetic algorithm. The proposed method is tested on the NIGERIAN SHIRORO COMPLEX (SC) as a case study.
