Abstract :

The estimation of global solar radiation from sunshine hours recorded in Zaria, Nigeria over a one year period was carried out by first developing a first, second and third order Angstrom type correlation. The values obtained with those estimated using the Johnson-Woodward (JW) model was then compared with measured values of global solar radiation. The third order Angstrom type correlation gave the best estimate of monthly average daily global solar radiation with a correlation coefficient of 0.9193, MBE of 0.007.
