Abstract :

ABSTRACT This paper discusses the domestication of WiMAX to enhance the performance of Wireless Local Area Network. Due to the quest for wireless broadband access that exhibits higher speed, larger coverage and supporting higher mobility, the emergence of WiMAX technology to a large extent met these demands.. Presently, systems whose designs are based on WiMAX technology can be used to transmit signals as far as 30 miles. WiMAX is presumed to offer a solution to what is normally called the last-mile problem by connecting individual homes and business offices communications. The primary aim of this paper is centered on discovering the driving parameters, which constitute the effective performance of a WiMAX system and further seek an effective means of using it to enhance the performance of WLAN communication system. MATLAB tool was used to achieve the required resources needed in the coexistence of WiMAX. The results obtained showed that the integrated WiMAX has provided a reliable system with less error signal compared to the WLAN system.
