Abstract :

A double-stator permanent magnet machine is developed in this paper. The performance of the machine on both load and no-load conditions are presented. The investigated machine characteristics include: the coil and phase flux-linkages, induced electromotive force, no-load torque, average and electromagnetic torques. Finite element analysis (FEA) is employed in the whole calculations. The results show that the developed machine has better per-formance than the conventional flux-switching permanent magnet (FSPM) machine under a fixed copper loss condition. More importantly, the investigated machine could be operated as a dual three-phase machine for enhanced reliability.
